I rarely seem to listen to most new releases when they come out unless it's something i'm REALLY anticipating or something.  So naturally some four months has gone by since the new KT album. I randomly decided to listen to it today and was kinda surprised by how good it was. Like, their vocals all sounded really strong together and the music was fresh and mature. For some reason, I also thought it was their first album in awhile, but actually it turns out they released stuff in 2018 and 2019 but i didn't pay attention bc i was all-in on Kpop and sPotify and they've only just recently put stuff on Spotify. But yeah, Honey was really good. Lmao @ that cover though which does not look like honey, but rather something else. .|.

Then I figured why not go dl the other two albums. I've listened to IGNITE so far. tHAT solo song from Ueda was REALLY unexpected lmao it's like this whole rap rock thing or whatever. A lot of kinda rocky songs on it in general. Pretty good album but i can't say it's as good as Honey. The other one is Cast, which has like 18 songs for some reason whew. Maybe that was the one after a long hiatus. I forgot when Junno left and Koki is still a pothead or cokehead or whatever.

I'd like to listen to Hey Say Jump since I'm a new Yamada Ryosuke stan lol but ofc it's not on sPotify. Get with the program JE and Japan in general but JE is the worst. The other group i kinda liked was NEWS, but after Yams left, like some years after they released a really good album. Anyway they're down to only three now lol.

I guess that's it for my weird KAT-TUN JE ramble here.

So I was in the Japanese music fandom for a long time and it was fun while it lasted just bc I knew so many people and we all had some understanding of Japanese and apparently disposable income for EMS shipping of singles lol.  But with the times and internet stuff having changed, like the access of Japanese music has not changed with it.  I bring that up bc I was going through the EXO tag on Tumblr and saw that SM had already put the new EXO live album on Spotify when it's not released physically until the 27th and I was just like...AWESOME.  I needed something new to stan lol.

Then you have all the crap on Youtube and Vlive and SNS keeping you occupied in stanning and it's just...Jmusic hasn't kept up with that at all, at least not for foreign fans, maybe they're fine in Japan, but when you're a freaking ocean away, you crave even more updates and things to stan bc you feel so out of touch.  I did do a switch towards pop awhile back, just in general, but I've gravitated more and more into Kpop for the last 5 years, but especially in the last 2 lol, just bc there's so much to do and enjoy.  Meanwhile, Jmusic has seemingly become even more closed off.  Like, Idk if it's just perception bc they're not as available, but there's not much on Spotify, you can't buy digital music without jumping through special hoops and paying way too much.

And I did try to get more into Jpop at one point, like with KAT-TUN, but then I watched part of a concert and they were largely terrible and it was super cheesy and I pretty much lost interest after that lmao.  Also Hilcrhyme, but once the ifandom lost interest, they also became harder and harder to keep up with.  Also, their release quality went down after Rising, but that's a different story.

Anyway, it's been a long time since I've listened to a live album.  Not since MUCC I think.  And this is pretty awesome.  Most of the songs are at least somewhat changed up, they all sound good, I love hearing Chen with Baek on songs that were previously split between K and M.  Even Wolf wasn't as bad as it normally is lmao. I'm a little upset it doesn't have the Star on it though. :(  I was really really hoping it would.

I still super hope they do some kind of best album from the split years featuring all the current members. I mean, the Growl/Overdose/Mama stuff was one thing bc Lu Han was there, but Love Me Right was pretty thin without him.

I think my favorite thing about this site is the random icon option when you post, otherwise it's frankly quite shitty in every way.  People loved to complain about every new thing Livejournal did all the time, but this site is essentially what an old, unupdated LIvejournal looks like.  It seemed like there used to be more icon slots too, but now you have to pay and it's like hahah yeah right.  Oh the other thing I love is this skull mood theme and the one where it has a coffee.

So I'm almost done with Goblin, one more episode to go.  I honestly can't believe people were complaining about the girl's acting, like seriously?  She was absolutely great.  You really felt the weight of her emotions in every scene.  And since i'm one of those jerks who largely ignores the female characters, that coming from me is very rare.  The last few episodes I was seriously getting confused on who remembered what lol.  But probably my favorite part, other than that hilariously gay scene where the Reaper tries to hide the Goblin from Duk Hwa, is where he tells Sunny his name is Wang Yeo.  It was subtle, but it felt like the hardest thing he'd ever had to say.  There's some fine acting in this show, honestly.  All the mains are truly fantastic and I can rarely seriously say that about any show.  There's always someone overacting like fuck.

Still pressing on with Wu Xin.  That commander cracks me up bc he makes the most ridiculous faces.  Speaking of overacting...lool.  Main guy though has some abs damn.  I feel like I've seen the Yue Ya girl in something before.  Waiting for Mike D'Angelo to show up, I haven't seen him in a minute.

Saw an article about fans hating Junno from KAT-TUN for I guess leaving and going solo and ugh that whole thing frustrates me so much.  On one hand, I can understand bc it's like, wow, you knew KT was hanging by a thread and then you just bailed anyway.  PLUS, not even to change your path, but to release solo music.  And honestly, his solo music so far has been really sub-par.  I thought when he had solos with KT that his voice was pretty strong, but his solos have shown so far that it's not.  I like Junno a lot and lowkey want him to succeed, but I'm not pretending these singles have been good and honestly, leaving and then making a U-turn on music was kinda shitty.

Was perusing AKP yesterday and saw some article about D-list celebs namedropping BTS or whatever and their fans eating it up.  Tbh, in all my years of following Asian music, I have NEVER understood why other fans are so jonesing for them to get recognition here.  Like, just stop.  It won't happen.  They'll get recognition as a curiosity, nothing more.   Americans have no tolerance for foreign acts and they especially seem to have something against Asians.  Plus the celebrity culture is totally different here.  If the choice is being recognize as a curiosity or not recognized at all, I'd choose the latter.

I just happened to take a closer look at the second Five Live Archives release and realized that, with the exception of Reincarnation, I have not seen any of those shows.  I'm rather picky on L'arc lives lol, because I can't stand it when Hyde ruins them with terrible singing or just generally being embarrassing and tryhard.  So I only have a handful that I like, a short list.  Hahah, short.  Pretty much 15th L'anni, Shibuya, Reset and Club Circuit.  Are You Ready, the official main release, not the one on this Five LIve thing, is not that great, Theater of Kiss is not that great, I never liked the original Awake thing, partially because it was a clip live like Smile and I didn't care for that much either.  Asialive had moments, but a lot of mistakes.  I vacillate on 20th L'anni so far because of Hyde's stupid appearance lol.  It's so distracting.  Plus I saw XXX from the second day and wow what a mess.

I wish Love Flies was on one of these, but here is me, excitedly freeleeching from JPS.  I'll watch them in a row for maximum nostalgia lol.

Oh, I meant to say something about the KAT-TUN thing, yes I'm a fan.  But I guess I don't care all that much about Koki leaving.  I find his raps obnoxious and frankly, much of his behavior as well.  I was mostly worried about them becoming a liability and being dissolve, but it seems they're releasing a mini-album in November.  So really I just hope they can continue on strongly as four.  I really like the four that are left (Maru's beatboxing is way awesome) so it's sort of perfect for me lol.
