Suho's album was indeed really good. Way better than his first one. Liked every song a lot, except I think Moment was a bit boring lol but yeah. My new philosophy wrt EXO is to stan the solos of all non-traitor members.  That's the only way I can avoid the traitors without completely trashing EXO. Though, if they release another album and Chen is in it, I'll probably listen. He's honestly the only member i LEGIT care about anymore.

In other news, I finished King In Love finally. I won't really go back on my dislike of the CP bc i thought he was honestly a selfish asshole and just bc he did some ok things at the end doesn't really change that. At least Rin and San got to be together, i think that's all i cared about lol.  Speaking of that kind of investment, I had this weird realization the other night when I was watching Sword Snow Stride that part of why I really like it, other than it's unusually funny for a wuxia/xianxia, is that I /don't/ have any investment in any certain character, narrative, or couple. So it's like oddly UN stressful to watch.

Now, you'd probably generally equate investment with engrossing, but it doesn't seem like that's the case bc i've been totally engrossed in watching SSS, i'm just not invested in any specific aspect of the show. It makes sense in my head lol. I mean, just compare it to King In Love that I just finished. I was VERY invested in 1. Rin and San being together as a couple and 2. Rin and San not dying. Both of those things were very in doubt at different times, which = more stressful to watch.

My question is kinda whether investment is just a personal thing that depends on the person and the show, or if there is some kind of secret manipulation these shows engage in to create that level of stressful investment lol. Not sure, but i really like SSS for not having that. To a certain extent, ToTC had that too bc i felt sure that Su Mo would complete his mission and more or less live. I wasn't invested in him and the girl though or even the kingdom coming back.

ANYWAY lol.  I also finished Lotus Palace, the first full length i read from Jeannie LIn. The ending was kinda funny, but it worked. Now that i know the plot of the second book, i like how she kinda set it up with a few hints in this one. The feeling of reading a romance Cdrama with the addition of sexytimes, i like it. Speaking of that, rating her sex scenes, she mostly does a good job i'd say. Sex scenes in romance novels are so controversial bc sometimes they're incredibly absurd in tihe language used is massively cringe. But other than the unforgivable use of the term "organ" she did a good job. Tbh, it's more offensive when authors use ridiculous language for the girl's parts lol and she didn't do that.

That's about it. I feel like I'm really juggling my dramas lately lol. AND I want to start Tomorrow, which is ongoing so i will be prevented from binging but i have to start it soon bc they release 2 eps per week but it goes into May 20th or smth.

Sitting here watching someone's dog and I can't decide what I want to watch since I only have my lappy with me.   I found a thing that discussed the original novel behind ROP and it's interesting that the Zhiwei character seems like she was at least as ruthless as Ning Yi.  Bc in the drama version of ROP, they wove a certain ridiculous idealism into Zhiwei's character that allowed her to be offended far too much at the things Ning Yi did. And furthermore, led to the ridiculous ending where she decided she couldn't live with the trail of death that she and Ning Yi wrought.  Despite the fact that most of those deaths were due to others trying to kill THEM and those others often killed innocents who were in the way. Like Shaoning for example.

But don't let facts get in the way of your tragic ending. :B

I said I understood and even accepted the ending, but tbh, I like the idea of a Zhiwei who gave no fucks right along with Ning Yi. I also saw some promo pictures that highly implied Zhiwei and Ning Yi marrying after the latter became emperor, so I wonder whose ass they pulled that ending out of.

Aaaaanyway lol.  As I've been catching up on everything Chen Kun lately I watched the Mojin movie the other day. It was aight. Nothing amazing. Visuals were good but it was very short on plot and there was absolutely ZERO excuse for Chen Kun and Shu Qi's characters not to kiss at the end please.  I was also highly amused at the first flashback where all the dumb commie kids pulled down those old statues and got eaten alive by demonic insects. 8D  In things that should happen IRL.

I found Chongqing Hotpot on YT though and like Mojin, I've been wanting to see that for awhile too. It seems like a dark?? comedy of sorts and believe it or not, as hot as Chen Kun is, he's also quite funny.

I wanted to try Psych Hunter but it looks like my only real choice is those pirate sites bc it's not on YT and it's only available for IQIYI VIP.  My gosh it's so annoying though whenever I go to shoutboxes on MDL and have to watch a bunch of dumb girlies bitching about female characters in dramas. Like, just say you hate women and go.  No one ever ranks on the annoying male characters as if there's not any. They are always saying the female characters are in the way of their perceived bromance lmao, like sorry to inform you, but guys can be close close best friends and still be into girls. sTUpid incels.

Twitter is so boring mid-afternoon my time like everyone's asleep. One of the many things I hate about stan twt is when ppl defend their fave by dragging the person's fave who's dragging THEIR fave. As if that makes it better or makes any kind of difference. Been constantly seeing Chanyeol fans drag Chen in response to presumably Chen fans dragging him and it's like????  Kay. Now you're a trash idiot too yay. I also don't understand why PCY fans have to insist that his ~scandal~ was definitely not true. It's like the Jim Jones nonsense with Suga. The best way to shut these idiots up is just say you don't care. I don't care if PCY cheated on his girlfriend with every hot girl in Seoul. I seriously do not.  I don't care that Suga used a sample of a Jim Jones sermon. I still have that copy on my hard drive and listen to it all the time.

These are not real problems, you weirdos. Where PCY sticks his dick has no affect on your life. Jim Jones is dead. A sample of him saying some random verse in the Bible won't hurt you. If you didn't know who was saying it, you'd be none the wiser. Knowing changes nothing except in your stupid head.

I saw some quote from Suga that was so wise. THe gist of it was something like, most of your problems are in your head. He was talking about himself like, he realized that most of his perceived problems were in his head and that's exactly right. Too many people let foolish shit get to them.

Watching some EXO footage from AAA and the Chen fancam in the Eve...well actually in the entire group view I could see he was being rude af, but the fancam makes it even more obvious lmao.

ETA - fucking Dreamwidth destroyed my post when I added the second vid ugh.  But yes I did in fact see what I thought I saw in Ko Ko Bop there.  About 1:20ish.  The awoo majimak bamiya part. 8D Like...that was already the hottest part of the choreo and I feel like I've been waiting all year for something like that to happen lol.   BaekChen shippers are clearly not rabid enough, even though, admittedly it's only this one fancam that shows it clearly so far lmao.

Actually, on that note though, I know I rant about delusional shippers a ton and that's bc most of them take a pandering, company-arranged ship and go FULL OUT trying to make everything gay.  See: Markson among others.  But tbh, the BaekChen fandom is pretty chill.  Honestly, half of them aren't even trying to make it gay, but celebrating their friendship so like, to me that's reasonable.

It's ironic af tbh bc unlike the other stupid arranged ships, their relationship is obviously completely genuine and not fan service when they do interact.  It's ironic bc the delusional ones like to go for the super obvious fan service and that's just....honestly proof of how dumb they are lmao.

Ahah I have a new appreciation for Artificial Love now that I watched some lives.  Ok, but I watched focus cams on both Chen and Baek and so to me, Baek seems like the one who would be super extra nsfw, but NO no no, I was so very very wrong.  He made the whole thing a lot more playful, smiling and waving to fans every now and then.  It's CHEN who had like a sexface expression the entire time while making the choreo as filthy as possible lmao.

And

He's so wrong SO WRONG.

gah!

I was finally able to watch the episode of JYP's Party People where EXO appeared and amg if i DIDN'T already love them, that show could have convinced me on the spot.  Like, besides the stunning display of talent, they were all so...normal?  Down to earth, humble, Idk what you want to call it but, for being as big as they are and they all kinda seemed nervous even.  I think my favorite part, unrelated to performances was Chen saying how all jobs have difficulties and their job isn't better, just different.  Considering their ages lol I'm shook.

My LEAST favorite part on the other hand was the dating chat and how super uncomfortable they all looked trying to laugh it off when fans were booing the idea.  Baek actually looked kinda pissed at one point, like oh yeah when he was talking about what he would tell his kids in the future.  Srsly fuck all those people.  I really hope they're all undercover dating and I honestly can't wait for the next dating ~scandal~ so I can go around and mock these losers who get upset.  Y'all are trash.

Anyway, next.  The performances were all really good, especially Power and Boomerang.  Was really impressed at Chen's rendition of Sunday Morning.  But what stood out to me during Boomerang is that obviously you have three very strong singers in Chen, Baek and DO, but the rest of them are quite competent in comparison to a lot of other subvocalists simply bc they don't try to do anything they're not capable of.  They have lines that fit their ability and they're able to deliver them on pitch and on time.  There's nothing worse than hearing singers with zero technique wailing in falsetto and otherwise vocally flailing around trying to do stuff they have no actual ability to do.  To me that's a HUGE difference between EXO and a lot of other groups out there.  And the other thing is that they're all able to harmonize really well.

Bc most people with at least a sense of pitch have a sort of small mid-range area they can decently sing in and that's what I'm hearing from all the subs.  They sound fine in that area too.  Gosh dang it's such a huge difference and as a result, their songs never sound shrill.  I never knew just how much I dislike overuse of falsetto until I got addicted to Kpop lol.
