So I was in the Japanese music fandom for a long time and it was fun while it lasted just bc I knew so many people and we all had some understanding of Japanese and apparently disposable income for EMS shipping of singles lol. But with the times and internet stuff having changed, like the access of Japanese music has not changed with it. I bring that up bc I was going through the EXO tag on Tumblr and saw that SM had already put the new EXO live album on Spotify when it's not released physically until the 27th and I was just like...AWESOME. I needed something new to stan lol.
Then you have all the crap on Youtube and Vlive and SNS keeping you occupied in stanning and it's just...Jmusic hasn't kept up with that at all, at least not for foreign fans, maybe they're fine in Japan, but when you're a freaking ocean away, you crave even more updates and things to stan bc you feel so out of touch. I did do a switch towards pop awhile back, just in general, but I've gravitated more and more into Kpop for the last 5 years, but especially in the last 2 lol, just bc there's so much to do and enjoy. Meanwhile, Jmusic has seemingly become even more closed off. Like, Idk if it's just perception bc they're not as available, but there's not much on Spotify, you can't buy digital music without jumping through special hoops and paying way too much.
And I did try to get more into Jpop at one point, like with KAT-TUN, but then I watched part of a concert and they were largely terrible and it was super cheesy and I pretty much lost interest after that lmao. Also Hilcrhyme, but once the ifandom lost interest, they also became harder and harder to keep up with. Also, their release quality went down after Rising, but that's a different story.
Anyway, it's been a long time since I've listened to a live album. Not since MUCC I think. And this is pretty awesome. Most of the songs are at least somewhat changed up, they all sound good, I love hearing Chen with Baek on songs that were previously split between K and M. Even Wolf wasn't as bad as it normally is lmao. I'm a little upset it doesn't have the Star on it though. :( I was really really hoping it would.
I still super hope they do some kind of best album from the split years featuring all the current members. I mean, the Growl/Overdose/Mama stuff was one thing bc Lu Han was there, but Love Me Right was pretty thin without him.
