Honestly most aspects of Kpop fandom are funny, but I find that Omona's bed of hypocrisy is a lot bigger than most others. They're usually all in to drag any mistepping idol when it's someone they collectively hate, but when it's someone they thirst for, then it's different. I have a few examples of course lol. Recent ones even. So basically the chick who got caught with Top doing weed did some kind of Vlive where she said a bunch of stuff, including that Top's dick was small lmao. So this gets posted right, and the first several comments are all criticizing her, when like I guaranteeee if the person in question was Idk someone from Super Junior or Beast, literally everyone would have been anime chortling at her "tea". BUT since it was Top, they were all clutching their pearls and pretending that she wasn't living up to some high female standards and being gross for "body shaming" lmao.
It was so obvious. This is like the second time I've agreed with Omona en masse about something and I find that very disturbing, but you know what, I hate double standards and this chick has done literally nothing except smoke some weed and bitch about her ex's tool. Can you imagine? If it was a guy outing a girl for Idk being a slut or something, guess who would get all the blame? Herrrrrr. That actually happened with some girl in the Jpop scene but I can't remember who atm. No one cared about the guys, only that she was a slut.
I guess this is the critical mass of my objectivity though. I'm not here for anyone's hypocrisy and if I have to be on the side of annoying SJW in the process than so be it. It's like that passage in the I Ching, only petty small-minded people disagree with ppl they don't like and agree with those they do, even if the people they don't like are right and the ones they do are wrong. You could also call it critical thinking.
Then the second example is a bit more complicated bc it involves Lay, whom, as a part of EXO, I effectively stan. So they made a post with pictures of him wearing a hat that said "real chigga", which is lol...dumb to say the least. But just like the instance with Kai's hair, hardly anyone cared about it. When you won't have to go back far to find them thirsting over his shirtless pics, just like you didn't have to go far to find them thirsting over Kai after the hair post. But again it's like, ok, don't go high speed on dragging idols you don't like for doing this stuff, but then go easy on the one you DO like. Be consistent. Me personally, I'm not in the business of getting offended at stuff they do or say, other than maybe a, well, that was a dumb thing to do/say. But I'm not going to crucify them for it. I've even defended guys I don't like when I felt they were being unjustly dragged for something.
However, if that's your gig, then you better make damn sure you're holding your faves to the same standards as the ones you don't like.
